Bon Jovi performed as part of the MTV Video Music Awards. Although the awards took place in the Radio Music
Hall in New York City, the band performed on TImes Square and was televised into the hall.
- The band first rehearsed Helter Skelter and Something For The Pain twice in front of the audience. Afterwards they played 3 songs just for the audience before the broadcast started and they played Helter Skelter and Something For The Pain again with the cameras rolling. When that "official" part was done they even played an encore.
- Something For The Pain was the current single which would be released a week later. But why the band opted to also play Helter Skelter, a coversong by The Beatles, will be a mystery forever.
- Talking about the award show, Bon Jovi wasn't nominated in any category.
