The Videos

Trivia

  • The acoustic show in Yokohama from January 19, 2003 during the Bounce tour was meant to be released on DVD. But due to Jon and Richie having a cold the band wasn't satisfied with the result and changed their plan. This resulted in the recording of This Left Feels Right in autumn of 2003.

  • The underline of the album is "Greatest Hits with a twist". The versions recorded aren't usual acoustic renditions but the band reworked every single song in a, like Jon called it back then, eclectic style. For most of the time the only thing the recorded versions have in common with the original ones are the lyrics. Despite that those are completely different songs.

  • Livin' On A Prayer is one of the few songs where the new version is more alike to the acoustic versions that were played before. But the backing vocals in the chorus that were always Richie's part now were done by Olivia d'Abo, an English-American actress, singer and songwriter - and for this part probably most important: the wife of the album's producer Patrick Leonard. A decision most fans disliked very much since her style of singing doesn't fit the band and the song at all.

  • For the Russian release the Russian singer and actress Alsou recorded the backing vocals. However, that version was only given to the Russian radio stations to promote the album, the Russian album release also had the version with Olivia d'Abo.

  • Last Man Standing and Thief Of Hearts are two songs that were written for This Left Feels Right. But Jon decided to pull them off the record because especially the message of Last Man Standing (his anger about the music industry) was too important to him and thus didn't want it to get lost in a greatest hits compilation. The studio versions of both songs were released on the Box Set a year later and Last Man Standing was also reworked into a heavy rock song and got released on Have A Nice Day in 2005.

Live

  • The whole album, including Last Man Standing and Thief Of Hearts, was played live during the two shows at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey on November 14 and 15, 2003.

  • In contrast to the recorded version, during both shows Richie sang the backing vocals to Livin' On A Prayer, as usual.

  • These 2 shows were the only time the band played those versions of Wanted Dead Or Alive, Bad Medicine, Everyday and Keep The Faith as well as Thief Of Hearts and Last Man Standing.

  • The version of Lay Your Hands On Me got played 3 times at the beginning of the Have A Nice Day Tour before it was laid to rest.

  • Those versions of Bed Of Roses, Always and I'll Be There For You were played during the Have A Nice Day Tour with the original versions being dropped. This lasted until the European leg of Lost Highway Tour were the original versions slowly made their way back into the setlist.

  • Those versions of It's My Life, Born To Be My Baby and You Give Love A Bad Name were played once again during the band's MTV Unplugged in 2007.
